If you’ve had enough of winter, there’s no need to book a flight south to enjoy your favorite summertime activities. Here are indoor venues where you can golf on your favorite (virtual) fairway, do Pilates in the pool at a seaside Hamptons resort, play beach volleyball in the sand or fill your lungs with salt air.
WHEN | WHERE 6 p.m.-midnight every Friday, Endless Summer Volleyball, 3580 Oceanside Rd., Oceanside
ADMISSION $15
Phillips says, “It’s as close to beach volleyball as you can get.”
Order pizza, pretzels, quesadillas, a beer or cocktail at the courtside patio bordered by miniature palm trees.
A new spring league starts Feb. 21. You can sign up a team or register as a free agent and be assigned to a team, Phillips says. The second annual volleyball tournament will be held on Feb. 25.
WHEN | WHERE Daily by appointment, Gurney’s Montauk Resort, 290 Old Montauk Hwy.

If you enjoy stand-up paddleboard exercises on the bay, Gurney’s offers the next best thing: Pilates and yoga classes on floating mats anchored in the pool at the resort’s seawater spa. The pool is filled with filtered seawater from the Atlantic Ocean, the same body of water visible outside the spa windows as you exercise. Classes are led Gina Bradley, owner of Paddle Diva in East Hampton.
Inside The Healing Grotto’s salt cave in Bellmore, temperatures hover in the low to mid-70s and spa music plays as you lounge in an extra-wide zero-gravity beach chair. The 16-foot-by-24-foot artificial cave, which is packed with 13,000 pounds of pink Himalayan salt on the floor and walls, also features a 9-foot screen with projected sunsets from around the world. “You feel like you are really on the beach,” says owner Steve Izen. Sessions last 45 minutes and cost $45. (516-221-7258, healinggrotto.com)
There are other salt caves in Bayport, Huntington, Montauk and Port Jefferson.

At Simplay, an indoor virtual multisports arena that opened last year in the Hauppauge Industrial Park, simulators virtually transport you to the great PGA golf courses of the world.
“We have a driving range mode and 87 golf courses to choose from, including the Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach in California, and St. Andrews in Scotland,” says general manager Josh Sisler. Bring your clubs along and hit into a 16-foot screen, which provides video and feedback on your game.
You can also play simulated versions of soccer, baseball, dodgeball and six other sports.
